Silk reeling is the phase when the thread
from the cocoon is winded and immersed in warm water in order to soften
the silk glue. Once the ends of the thread are found, they are shaped
into a rose and are pulled keeping the bundle of the flosses well
tight. In San Leucio, the manager of the silk factory distributed
every morning the cocoons earlier selected to the workers according
to type, giving directions on the number of cocoons to employ to form
the thread. Once the hanks formed, they were hung and let dry. Once
the threads dry, they were folded in reels to be put on the twisting
frame.
